Mission

The Smiling Coast Foundation is a Gambian nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing local access to education and basic resources. Our focus is not only to ensure quality education and skill growth for Gambian people but also to provide access to sustainable food and resource accumulation for those most vulnerable in a developing country.

about us

The Smiling Coast Foundation is achieving more with our initiatives than ever before. We are working on many exciting projects to help improve the lives of our fellow Gambians, and we are very proud of our progress. Smiling Coast activities are varied and multidimensional. The foundation is focused on all forms and aspects of education, such as vocational education and training, helping to revive “The Roots Festival” to educate people about their culture, implementing cultural tourism as outreach to the Diaspora and spreading awareness about eliminating sex trafficking.

Bubacarr Manneh is the founder and CEO of the Smiling Coast Foundation. Graduate of the American University with a degree in Human Resources, he has dedicated his career to helping Gambian to achieve their full potential.

Charmaine Minniefield is the visual artist activist, founder of the New Freedom Project. Her public art initiatives and creative practice address social justice issues around race and erasure. She is based in both Atlanta, Georgia in the US and in The Gambia, where she continues to research the origins of her cultural identity
